Your documents
Where are my documents stored?
Only on your device: in the app’s storage on your phone, or in your browser’s storage if you use the web version. Photos, PDFs, recognized text and settings are never sent to CALCENA or to any third party.
One important consequence: we have no copy of your documents. If you delete the app, or clear the site data in your browser, your documents go with it. Export the ones you want to keep.
In the web version, the browser may also clear a site’s data on its own if you rarely use it or when storage runs low (Safari in particular). For important documents, use the app or export them regularly.
If you use your device’s backup (iCloud or Google), it follows the settings you have chosen.
How do I back up or transfer my documents?
Export them to a location you control: open a document, save it as a PDF or JPEG, or share it to the app of your choice (Files, cloud storage, an email to yourself, your computer…).
To switch phones, export your documents from the old one before resetting it, then find them on the new one in the location you chose. Since nothing is kept on our servers, we cannot do this transfer for you.
How do I delete my data?
Your documents exist only on your device, so you are the one who deletes them.
- A single document: open it, then choose “Delete document”.
- All the app’s data: uninstall Clefdoc. On Android, you can also clear its storage from the phone’s settings (Apps, then Clefdoc, then Storage).
- Web version: clear the data for the app.clefdoc.com site in your browser settings.
Copies you have exported or shared, and your device backups, are not affected: delete them separately if needed.
If you have written to us, you can ask us to delete our correspondence by emailing support@clefdoc.com.
Subscription and purchases
What happens after the free trial?
The free trial lasts 7 days. After that, if you haven’t bought anything:
- your documents remain viewable and exportable: they are neither locked nor deleted;
- scanning new documents and editing your existing ones require the annual subscription (€19.99 per year) or the lifetime purchase (€39.99 one-time).
Indicative prices for France, including VAT; they may vary by country and store.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Your subscription is managed by Apple or Google, from your account settings. You can cancel it at any time.
On iPhone
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Choose Clefdoc, then tap Cancel Subscription.
On Android
- Open the Google Play app.
- Tap your profile icon at the top right, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Choose Clefdoc, then cancel the subscription by following the instructions.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: you keep access until then. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
To request a refund, contact the company that collected the payment: Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google (your Google Play order history).
How do I restore my purchases?
Your purchases are linked to your Apple or Google account, not to your phone. On a new device or after reinstalling the app:
- make sure you are signed in with the same Apple account (iPhone) or Google account (Android) you used to make the purchase;
- open Clefdoc and tap “Restore purchases” on the plans screen.
A purchase made on iPhone cannot be restored on Android, and vice versa: the two stores are separate.
If restoring fails, check your internet connection and try again. If the problem persists, write to us.
Scanning problems
The app doesn’t detect the edges of the document
A few tips to help detection:
- lay the document flat on a background that contrasts with it (for example, a white sheet on a dark table);
- make sure it is well lit, avoiding glare and the phone’s shadow;
- keep all four corners in the frame and hold the phone roughly parallel to the page;
- wipe the camera lens.
If the edges still aren’t found, crop by hand: drag each corner into place, and use the magnifier to position it precisely.
Text recognition makes mistakes
The sharper the image, the more reliable text recognition is:
- scan in a well-lit place, holding the phone steady;
- check that the page is properly straightened and cropped;
- try the Black & white or Grayscale filter, which boosts the contrast of the text;
- recognition follows Clefdoc’s interface language (English, French, Spanish or German): for a document written in another of these languages, change the interface language.
Handwriting, highly decorative fonts and very small print remain hard to recognize. Always read through the resulting text before using it.
